Doddridge County Roots is a genealogy project dedicated to preserving and sharing family history from North Central West Virginia. Its research focuses primarily on Doddridge County, with additional coverage of nearby Ritchie, Harrison, Lewis, Gilmer, Tyler, Wetzel, and Calhoun counties. The project began as a family tree documenting the Gaston and Husk families, who settled in Doddridge County in the mid-1800s, and has since expanded to include many families with roots in the region.

Its genealogical resources cover surnames such as Britton, Nutter, Davis, Jones, Richards, Adams, Smith, Williams, and others. The site also provides material on Doddridge County veterans, war casualties, unclaimed Civil War medals, and cemeteries, alongside background information and contact details. Built through years of research by the project’s contributors and earlier genealogists, Doddridge County Roots makes its findings available to the genealogy community and the public.

Its purpose is to help people uncover connections and locate useful pieces of their family histories
