Dodgy Dinners is an online service that helps people check official food hygiene ratings for restaurants, takeaways, pubs and cafés across the UK. Its searchable directory presents ratings sourced directly from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the government body responsible for inspecting food businesses across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Users can search by venue or area, and may also use their location to find places nearby. Each listing shows the business’s FSA hygiene score on the familiar scale from zero to five, along with the date of its latest inspection, helping diners make a more informed choice before ordering or visiting.

The site explains what ratings mean and clarifies that they assess food safety management, not the taste or quality of a meal. Inspectors consider hygiene practices, the condition of the premises and their confidence in how well management will maintain standards. Free to use, Dodgy Dinners makes public information quick and accessible, pairing a straightforward presentation with a light-hearted tone.
