Dog Aid Scotland is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Edinburgh, founded in 1956 to improve the welfare of dogs and promote responsible ownership across Scotland. Its central service is re-homing dogs that can no longer remain with their current owners. Rather than using kennels, the charity keeps dogs with their existing owners while seeking suitable new homes, helping them avoid the disruption of a kennel stay. Dogs adopted through the service are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, and re-homing is limited to homes in Scotland.
The charity also offers practical support to dog owners on low incomes, including financial assistance with veterinary costs and neutering vouchers. Its wider work includes sharing information about dog ownership and providing dog-waste disposal bags through a dog-fouling project. Supporters can help through donations, annual memberships, fundraising, volunteering and legacy giving. Dog Aid Scotland also runs a bequeath service, Forever After, for dogs whose owners have made arrangements for their future care.
