About Dog Mountain
Dog Mountain, home of the Stephen Huneck Gallery, is a 150-acre mountaintop destination in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, stewarded by the nonprofit Friends of Dog Mountain. Its mission is to sustain the property as a unique national treasure and preserve and celebrate the artistic contributions of folk artist Stephen Huneck.
The grounds welcome visitors and their dogs free of charge, with three miles of trails, scenic views, wildflower meadows, ponds, and whimsical artworks throughout the landscape. Visitors can explore the Dog Chapel, a place to honor the bond between people and their dogs, and see Huneck’s work in the gallery, housed in a renovated farmhouse. The gallery’s shop offers original artwork, prints, apparel, home goods, stationery, gifts, books, and pet products.
Dog Mountain also hosts seasonal dog parties, summer music events, weddings, and other private gatherings. Alongside its visitor experiences and retail offerings, Friends of Dog Mountain relies on donations, memberships, volunteers, and other support to care for the property and continue its work
