Dōgon by Kwame Onwuachi is a Washington, D.C. restaurant located inside The Potomac Hotel on the revitalized Southwest Waterfront, near The Wharf and the National Mall. Created by James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi, Dōgon draws inspiration from the heritage of Benjamin Banneker and his reported connection to the West African Dogon people. Its cuisine takes an Afro-Caribbean approach, reflecting Onwuachi’s Nigerian, Jamaican, Trinidadian, and Creole background. The restaurant serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; reservations are recommended, with walk-ins welcomed when space is available.
Dōgon’s culinary team is led by Chef de Cuisine Martel Stone, whose Contemporary Diaspora cooking layers bold spices and herbs into flavorful dishes. The restaurant also offers a craft cocktail program developed with founding beverage partner Derek Brown, with a focus that includes mindful drinking and no- and low-alcohol cocktails. Guests can reserve private dining and explore event offerings, making Dōgon a destination for both meals and gatherings.
