Dogwood Nature School provides accessible, affordable, nature-based education for children ages three to eight in Midlothian and the Richmond, Virginia area. Its outdoor preschool program is entirely outdoors and guided by child-led play, exploration, and meaningful relationships rather than a prescribed curriculum. In a mixed-age community, children learn alongside one another while developing social-emotional skills, independence, physical coordination, and early cognitive abilities.
The school’s hands-on experiences encourage curiosity, confidence, cooperation, and connection with the natural world. Its program also aims to prepare children for kindergarten while supporting their individual interests and development. Dogwood emphasizes small class sizes and a safe, supportive setting designed to make learning joyful for children and less stressful for families.
Founded by Miss Ashlee, a certified early childhood educator with more than six years of teaching experience, the school is supported by lead teachers with backgrounds in anthropology, nature-based learning, and art education. Dogwood Nature School invites families to contact the team to learn more about enrollment and available offerings.
