The DOI Foundation is a not-for-profit organization. We govern the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) system on behalf of the agencies who manage DOI registries and provide services to their respective communities. We are the registration authority for the ISO standard (ISO 26324) for the DOI system and we are governed by our Registration Agencies. Please direct all DOI ID questions & requests about registration status to the agency where registered - as this page does not respond to inquiries.

About DOI Foundation
The DOI Foundation is the governing body that oversees the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) system. As the registration authority for the ISO standard for DOI, we ensure the persistence and accessibility of identified objects. Our mission is to make sure that the things our community cares about can be reliably located and accessed, not just now but also in the future.
We are a community-driven organization, working closely with Registration Agencies (RAs) and other Members to maintain high standards and improve services. Our DOI system is based on the Handle System, providing a simple and efficient way to register and resolve unique identifiers. With over 1 billion DOIs resolved each month, we have proven scalability to handle enormous loads.
The DOI Foundation operates under a self-funded model, recouping costs through annual fees from Registration Agencies and Members. This allows us to promise persistence, supported by a long-term sustainability fund. As an ISO Registration Authority, we adhere to legal obligations and standards, and our focus on maintaining the DOI System ensures its continuity
