Do It Your Sel is a volunteer-led French association dedicated to supporting people with multiple disabilities and their families. It works to raise awareness, recognize families’ experiences, and encourage practical support through adapted resources, opportunities for respite, and shared moments. Its activities also include educational initiatives and advocacy, such as the Parents-Aidants Manifesto, which shares the everyday challenges faced by parents of children with multiple disabilities.

The association’s signature product is a playful, educational kit that lets people make salt at home throughout the year. It introduces users to the history of salt and salt marshes, with support from salt workers at the Noirmoutier Salt Cooperative. Launched by the association in 2016, the kit is now manufactured and sold by the cooperative, which contributes €0.75 to Do It Your Sel for each kit sold. The association also invites businesses to become sponsors, helping fund its projects for families. Through this combination of a distinctive product, education, and community partnerships, Do It Your Sel connects the story of Noirmoutier salt with support for families affected by multiple disabilities.
