Donella Meadows

The Donella Meadows Project is an initiative of the Academy for Systems Change dedicated to preserving the legacy of Donella (Dana) H. Meadows, an influential leader, scholar, writer, and teacher. Its mission includes managing intellectual property rights related to her published work and maintaining a comprehensive, accessible online archive of her articles, columns, letters, books, teaching, and other materials. The project also develops resources and programs that apply Meadows’s ideas to current issues, sharing them with students, practitioners, and leaders working for social change.

Visitors can explore systems-thinking resources, video and photo collections, quotations, tributes, bibliographies, and recommended reading. The site features material on Meadows’s work, including Thinking in Systems, Leverage Points, and Limits to Growth; the 1972 Limits to Growth study is available online through a partnership with Dartmouth’s Rauner Library. Projects include an illustrated presentation of “Leverage Points,” educational content, and online learning opportunities such as Dancing with Systems. The organization also offers reprint-permission information, volunteering opportunities, and a newsletter with occasional updates about programs, events, and resources.
