Fundación Dones de Misericordia

Dones de Misericordia is a Colombian nonprofit organization founded in 2005 and based in Bolívar. It works to promote human development, peace, and reconciliation among communities facing extreme vulnerability, with a focus on protecting children and adolescents and supporting older adults. Its sustainable social model combines education, health, environmental responsibility, culture and sports, values-based learning, and entrepreneurship.

The foundation runs several programs. Hogar de los Dones provides comprehensive care for vulnerable older adults, supporting a dignified and protected later life. Casa de los Dones helps children and adolescents experiencing street situations through holistic development and efforts to restore their rights. The Dones de Misericordia Educational Center offers preschool and primary education, food support, protection, and life-skills training to children in Tierra Bomba. Through Aquabyte, the organization promotes programming and English as tools for the island’s development. Its community initiatives also include environmental projects, productive gardens, assistance for families, and support for local workers. People can contribute through donations, sponsorship, or volunteering.
