DONMED Africa

DONMED AFRICA is a registered non-profit healthcare foundation and medical equipment sustainability organisation serving communities across Africa. It connects donors, governments, manufacturers, hospitals and biomedical engineers to help ensure that lifesaving equipment reaches facilities where it is needed and remains safe and operational over time. Rather than focusing on donations alone, DONMED manages the equipment lifecycle, from sourcing, assessment and testing to refurbishment, hospital matching, shipping, installation, training, maintenance and impact reporting.

Its services include biomedical engineering, equipment repair and calibration, preventive maintenance, lifecycle management, technical and clinical capacity building, and research to support sustainable healthcare policy. DONMED also runs programs focused on biomedical engineering, maternal and neonatal health, and community health outreach. Through its work, the organisation addresses challenges such as unsuitable donations, limited technical capacity, unavailable spare parts and equipment that goes unused. Hospitals can request equipment or support, while donors, partners and volunteers can contribute to its efforts.
