The Don Meyer National Coach of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition in college basketball, awarded annually to the top head coach in NAIA competition. Named in honor of Don Meyer, one of the sport's most successful coaches, the award highlights remarkable achievements within the NAIA ranks. Meyer, known for his impressive 923-324 coaching record, led teams to national championships and nurtured some of college basketball's highest-scoring athletes throughout his career.
Since its inception, the award has celebrated excellence in coaching, with recipients chosen by a 10-member committee that includes current and former head coaches and senior staff from CollegeInsider.com. Recent honoree Scott Moore of Grace College exemplified this excellence with a historic season in 2024, setting records and earning accolades for both team performance and academic achievement. Presented at the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship, the Don Meyer Award not only recognizes coaching prowess but also embodies a commitment to the sport's values and integrity.
