Doppeltür is a cultural and educational project in Switzerland’s Surbtal region, dedicated to the history of close coexistence between Jewish and Christian communities. It brings this distinctive heritage into the present through experiences that explore local architecture, cultural traditions, interreligious dialogue, and the questions this history raises for society today.
Its offer includes the Jewish Cultural Trail, the historic ritual bath (Mikwe) in Endingen, guided visits, events, and educational resources for schools. Teachers can access learning materials and take part in professional development, while visitors can discover historic sites and stories across Endingen and Lengnau. The project also shares news and event information through its website and newsletter.
A Doppeltür encounter centre is planned to open in Lengnau in 2028, creating a place to experience the region’s Jewish-Christian history and heritage. Doppeltür invites individuals, schools, and communities to learn about the past, encounter the Surbtal’s cultural landmarks, and reflect on peaceful coexistence among different religions and cultures.
