The Dorper Sheep Society of Australia Inc. (DSSA) is a national organisation supporting breeders of Dorper and White Dorper sheep. Established after the breeds were introduced to Australia in 1996, the Society maintains a registry of pedigree and breeding information for sires and dams to help preserve genetic integrity. It promotes these low-maintenance meat sheep, valued for their adaptability to a wide range of Australian conditions and their contribution to prime lamb production.
DSSA services include access to trained, qualified inspectors who assist breeders with flock management and quality control, along with regular member bulletins offering guidance on breed performance. Members can connect through a nationwide network and access educational videos and tutorials. The Society also provides breed information, including history and standards, and offers tools such as LAMBPLAN resources. Its annual shows and sales bring breeders together to exhibit and assess sheep, while the website shares industry news, event listings and sheep-for-sale information. DSSA merchandise is also available through its online shop.
