It supports and increases the visibility of both professional and amateur photographers through festivals, competitions, exhibitions, publishing initiatives and educational activities.

Its flagship event, Trieste Photo Days, is an international urban photography festival held each autumn. The programme spans exhibitions, workshops, screenings, contests, presentations and meetings across venues in the city. Photo Days Tour extends the festival with photography events outside Trieste, including in other Italian cities and nearby communities. The association also organises the Urban Photo Awards, an international competition whose selected winners are recognised by a distinguished jury and presented at the festival.

Through Exhibit Around, dotART helps select and promote photographic exhibition and editorial projects, connecting photographers with venues and audiences in Italy and abroad. Trieste PhotoLab offers free photography and visual communication guidance for young people aged 18 to 30, as well as professional development opportunities for photographers. dotART also publishes photography books and invites people to become members.
