Double S Alpaca

Double S Alpaca L.L.C. is a family-run alpaca farm in Princeton, Minnesota, founded in 2014 by Steven and Sandy Clemons. The farm has developed a herd with genetics that produce award-winning alpacas, while prioritizing the animals’ care and well-being. Visitors are welcome to schedule a farm visit and meet the herd.

The business offers alpacas for sale to suit different goals, including companionship, fiber production, breeding, and showing. For people new to raising livestock, Double S Alpaca provides guidance and mentoring to customers who purchase animals from its herd, and welcomes questions from those considering alpaca farming. The owners also encourage prospective farmers to visit multiple farms and learn about different approaches.

Double S explains practical considerations for keeping alpacas, including that they are herd animals and should be kept with companions; separating males and females helps prevent unintended breeding. Alpacas are described as relatively easy-care livestock that can be raised on limited acreage. Their sustainable fiber can be made into products such as yarn, socks, and scarves.
