Double Shovel Outfitters

Double Shovel Outfitters is an Alaskan hunting and wilderness outfitting business based in Fairbanks, offering guided big-game hunts and river travel in remote Arctic Alaska. The company guides hunts for caribou, moose, and grizzly bear, with possible opportunities for wolf or black bear as secondary species. Its fully guided, fly-in hunts operate in federal exclusive guide-use concessions within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge. Small groups and remote camps are central to the company’s emphasis on solitude and wilderness experience.

For visitors seeking a different way to explore the region, Double Shovel Outfitters leads custom raft trips on the Porcupine, Coleen, and Sheenjek rivers. Trips offer opportunities to view wildlife, fish, hike, and explore Arctic landscapes at a flexible pace. The company also supports independent river travelers with raft rentals, outfitting, logistics planning, and shuttle services. Available equipment includes self-bailing rafts, oar frames, SOAR inflatables, rafting gear, bear-resistant containers, tents, and kitchen sets.
