Former Sheriff Candidate Ada County

Doug Traubel for Ada County Sheriff is the campaign of a veteran peace officer seeking to lead the Ada County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho. Traubel describes himself as a conservative, constitutional candidate and draws on 32 years in law enforcement. His career began in 1984 in Chula Vista, California, where his assignments included patrol, field training, SWAT, and proactive street-team work targeting gangs and related crimes. He graduated from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Academy in 1986 and says that learning about the constitutional role of the sheriff shaped his understanding of the office.

The campaign presents its approach through “C.O.P.”: citizen-involved, oath-centered, and proactive. Traubel proposes expanding volunteer reserve deputy and sheriff posse programs, educating deputies about their constitutional oaths, and pursuing a forceful approach to crime fighting. The site also features information about his background, books, endorsements, videos, events, and campaign donation opportunities. It invites questions and comments and provides contact details for supporters and community members.
