Downiaiset

Downiaiset – Suomen Downin Syndrooma ry is a nationwide Finnish association founded in 2010 for children, young people and adults with Down syndrome, and the people close to them. The association helps individuals and families find information, peer support and practical guidance throughout different stages of life. Its resources cover Down syndrome, growth and development, health, communication, rehabilitation, education, work and supported living. It also provides information about services and support for people with Down syndrome and their families, including guidance for navigating available assistance and rehabilitation.

For new parents, Downiaiset offers introductory information and encouragement to help families build everyday life in a way that works for them. Peer support is available to families, children, young people and adults, connecting people with others who may understand similar experiences. The association organises national and regional events and activities for families, young people and adults, and shares news and information about Down Syndrome Day. Its website also includes service guides, family resources and links to online community and discussion groups.
