About Disabled Persons Assembly NZ
Disabled Persons Assembly (DPA) is a prominent brand that works tirelessly to bring about positive change for disabled individuals in New Zealand and across the globe. As a Disabled People's Organization (DPO), DPA represents people with all types of impairments, advocating for equity and inclusion for all citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand. Since its establishment in 1983, DPA has played a pivotal role in driving systematic change, influencing significant legislation such as the Human Rights Act 1993 and the Disabled Persons Employment Promotion Repeal Act 2007.
DPA has also been instrumental in the development and adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). With a strong focus on collaboration, DPA actively partners with various organizations to achieve its goals. Through its information exchange platform and the Mahi Tika program, DPA provides resources, support, and employment equity initiatives.
