About Disabled People's Association
Disabled People's Association (DPA) is Singapore's only cross-disability non-profit organization. As an organization run by people with disabilities, we represent and advocate for the disability community. Our goal is to create a fairer society where everyone, regardless of disability, can participate fully in all aspects of life.
We provide a platform for individuals with disabilities to voice their needs and ensure their voices are heard, representing those who may be unable or uncomfortable speaking for themselves. DPA works closely with decision-makers in political, commercial, and educational institutions to ensure that the disability community is included in decision-making processes that affect their lives. We also offer training programs for people with disabilities and the public, promoting inclusivity and creating an accessible society.
Our aims are to empower individuals with disabilities, initiate constructive dialogue about disability, share research and best practices, and cultivate public awareness of all types of disabilities. Founded in 1980 by Mr. Ron Chandran-Dudley, DPA has played a significant role in Singapore's disability rights movement.
We continue to collaborate with the government and other organizations to shape policies and improve accessibility in the country. Although we have made progress, there is still work to be done. DPA remains committed to fulfilling our founder's vision, giving a voice to individuals with disabilities and creating a more inclusive society for all
