Dragons Abreast Sydney

Dragons Abreast Sydney is a community dragon boating group for people affected by breast cancer, officially formed in 2003. Its focus is supporting mental and physical wellbeing after diagnosis and treatment while creating an inclusive, enjoyable way to connect with others who understand the experience. Members include survivors of different ages, genders, backgrounds, fitness levels and athletic abilities, and newcomers are encouraged to participate at their own pace.

The group offers team dragon boating, with paddling that develops technique, discipline and focus. Training takes place from Dragon Boat New South Wales facilities at Black Wattle Bay in Pyrmont, near the Sydney Fish Markets. The schedule described includes Saturday morning sessions and a weekly evening paddle when available; group exercise has also been held at Studio4 in Pyrmont. People considering joining may bring family or friends to their first three sessions at no charge.

Beyond training, Dragons Abreast Sydney fosters social connection through shared breakfasts, coffee, regattas, festivals and picnics.
