The Dres. Carl Maximilian and Carl Manfred Bayer Foundation, commonly known as the Dres. Bayer-Stiftung, is a charitable foundation under German civil law based in Ravensburg.
Established on 23 June 2006, it was created from assets bequeathed by Dr. Carl Manfred Bayer and honors both him and his father, Dr. Carl Maximilian Bayer.
The two men worked as rural physicians near Ravensburg for more than six decades in total. The foundation’s purpose is to advance science and research, with a particular focus on cancer research through its annual Württemberg Cancer Prize, awarded since 2009. The prize is offered as a Project Prize and/or an Early-Career Researcher Prize, supporting talented young medical researchers connected with Württemberg: those born in the region and conducting research there.
The foundation provides information on applications, its assessment process, and reporting on the use of awarded funds. Its website also presents past and current prize recipients, shares news and press coverage, and provides contact details for applicants and other interested parties
