Driffield Karate Academy is a karate club serving Driffield and nearby villages, established in 1999 by Sensei Karen Turner, a fifth dan and award-winning kata competitor. The academy welcomes students from age six and aims to raise standards in both karate and education while offering a safe, friendly and inclusive place to train. Lessons provide opportunities to develop discipline, fitness, self-esteem and confidence, and to make friends through training and social events.
The club holds East Riding of Yorkshire Council ERCAS accreditation, reflecting its commitment to qualified, DBS-checked coaches and volunteers, first aid, health and safety, child protection, suitable insurance, and structured skills development. In addition to its regular karate instruction, the academy offers self-defence training through Defend Yourself, a programme designed for schools, colleges, universities, businesses, community groups and others. Its training aims to help people of all ages learn practical techniques to protect themselves and those close to them.
The academy also invites community support through the Co-op Local Community Fund and easyfundraising
