Drifting Sands Horsemanship is a horse and rider education business based in Inman Valley on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, about an hour south of Adelaide. Led by horsemanship teacher Mike Pitman, with Belinda also offering lessons, the team helps people develop leadership, communication and lasting partnerships with their horses through progressive, practical training.
Services include private and group horsemanship and riding lessons, clinics, multi-session courses, horse starting and specialist float training. Foundation Studies and staged groundwork classes guide participants from essential skills—such as relaxation, pressure and release, leading and foot placement—to applying those concepts under saddle and progressing to collection and lateral movements. Lessons and courses are designed for different experience levels, with structured learning, practice tasks and opportunities to advance at an individual pace.
The Dream Horse Program offers an extended, shared journey: a young horse is handled and educated over time, then started under saddle, while its owner learns alongside it through lessons, clinics and other activities.
