The DRK Ortsverein Benningen am Neckar is a local volunteer association of the German Red Cross, serving Benningen and the surrounding community. Founded in 1923, it brings together around 40 active volunteers, members of the German Red Cross Youth and approximately 370 supporting members. Its work focuses on community support, emergency response, humanitarian assistance and civil protection.
The association helps provide timely care through its “Helfer vor Ort” service, which mobilizes local volunteers to support ambulance services in urgent, time-critical emergencies. It also offers first-aid learning opportunities, including courses held locally or online, and medical services at public events such as sports gatherings, street festivals and markets. Regular blood donation events help support patient care. Its social activities include monthly gatherings for older residents and occasional excursions.
People can get involved through the adult volunteer unit, open to those aged 16 and over, or the Youth Red Cross for ages 10 to 16. The association also welcomes donations to support its humanitarian work and local projects.
