The German Red Cross District Association of Delmenhorst (DRK-Kreisverband Delmenhorst e.V.) has served people in Delmenhorst and nearby communities since 1879. Guided by the principle of helping without discrimination, it provides support for people of all ages and is part of the wider international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Its services span everyday assistance, care and emergency response. These include home nursing, short-term and residential care, a 24-hour home emergency call service, meals on wheels, transport and patient transport, and ambulance services. The association also offers support for children and young people, migration and integration services, a visiting service, clothing assistance, and a hospice-wishes transport service. First-aid courses are available for adults, children, seniors and workplace needs.
Volunteers are central to the association’s work. They contribute through blood donation, disaster response, medical event support, the Youth Red Cross, clothing services and psychosocial emergency support. The DRK also provides opportunities for volunteering and youth service, alongside information about donations, membership and local community programs.
