DRK Nordfriesland

The German Red Cross District Association Nordfriesland (DRK-Kreisverband Nordfriesland e.V.), based in Husum, provides social, care and community services throughout the Nordfriesland region. It coordinates local Red Cross branches and operates facilities and services supported by both staff and volunteers. More than 5,000 volunteers take part in local activities, including blood donation, emergency response, youth programs, community meals, senior gatherings, day trips and sports.

The association offers home care through three service locations and residential care at four facilities, including homes in Husum, Sprackelbarg and Pellworm, as well as the Käthe-Bernhardt-Haus. Its services also include an emergency call system for older people, age-friendly housing, clothing banks and containers, a search service, and cooperation with the Husum hospice service. Training includes first aid courses and refresher sessions for workplaces, care staff, teachers, children’s settings, seniors, sports and dog owners, alongside in-house training. The association also supports volunteering, provides employment and training opportunities, and invites people to join, donate or participate in its work.
