The German Red Cross (DRK) Ortsverein Nordheim is a local volunteer organization serving the municipality of Nordheim and the district of Nordhausen. Established in 1933, it supports people in emergencies through community-based services and contributes to civil protection. Its work includes medical services at public events, from concerts to street festivals, where trained helpers provide assistance when incidents occur.
The organization also conducts blood donation drives, helping make donations available to those who need them. Its first-aid courses teach participants how to respond appropriately in emergencies and potentially save lives. Through its care service, the local branch assists people in need by providing essential support.
The Ortsverein also offers a “Helfer vor Ort” rapid-response service, reflecting its focus on timely help when every second counts. Residents can find local contacts, get information about volunteering or membership, and support the organization through donations. As part of the wider German Red Cross, the Nordheim branch works to help people in need locally and beyond
