DRK Oberried

The German Red Cross (DRK) Ortsverein Oberried is a local volunteer organization founded in 1954. Its 39 active members provide community support through medical event services, blood donation drives, emergency preparedness, and first aid education. For events, the group can arrange a qualified medical team with a patient transport vehicle or ambulance, tailored to the organizer’s needs or official requirements. It also delivers first aid and occupational safety courses on behalf of the DRK Kreisverband Freiburg, including courses with individually requested content.

The association supports public access to emergency care in Oberried and nearby districts, where 11 publicly accessible defibrillators are located. It offers resuscitation training and guidance on using these devices. Members also participate in the “Region der Lebensretter” initiative and may be alerted to suspected cardiac arrests. In emergency situations, the Ortsverein staffs a local patient transport vehicle as part of a special-incident support unit. Its youth Red Cross welcomes young people aged 9 to 14 for group activities.
