Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) is an organization that saves lives, assists in emergencies, provides community support, helps the poor and needy, and upholds humanitarian law in Germany and around the world. They offer a wide range of products and services to support individuals and communities in times of need. For those who want to stay safe and secure in their own homes, Deutsches Rotes Kreuz provides the Hausnotruf (home emergency call system) which offers round-the-clock safety and security.
In addition, their ambulante Pflege (outpatient care) services ensure that individuals receive the help they need in the comfort of their own homes, whether due to age, illness, or disability. Deutsches Rotes Kreuz also offers first aid courses to teach people how to respond in emergency situations and potentially save lives. For seniors, their Tagespflege (day care) centers provide recreational activities and care services.
Moreover, they operate Kindertageseinrichtungen (child day care centers) and horticultural facilities, caring for over 100,000 children from two months to 14 years of age. Their commitment extends to providing residential care facilities characterized by a friendly atmosphere, comfortable amenities, and excellent dining options for the elderly. Deutsches Rotes Kreuz also supports individuals with disabilities through their range of services including Betreutes Reisen (supported travel) to help them reach their dream destinations.
In addition, they actively contribute to migration and integration efforts, protecting and rescuing people during emergencies. As a non-profit organization, Deutsches Rotes Kreuz relies on donations to support their work and extends an invitation to individuals to become members to support their humanitarian efforts. With a long and rich history dating back to Henry Dunant, the Swiss founder of the Red Cross movement, Deutsches Rotes Kreuz continues to make a difference in the lives of those in need
