DRK-Bereitschaft Vöhrenbach is a local volunteer unit of the German Red Cross, part of the Donaueschingen district association. Founded in 1900, it is among the older Red Cross groups in the Schwarzwald-Baar district and is supported by around 35 volunteers. Its work focuses on practical emergency assistance, community support and preparedness.
The unit provides medical cover at public events, from concerts to street festivals, and operates a “helpers on site” service that can begin first aid while an ambulance is on its way. Volunteers also take part in disaster response as members of the district’s second deployment unit. Through its social service, the group assists people affected by illness or age with everyday needs such as shopping and medical appointments, and offers companionship.
The Vöhrenbach unit supports local blood donation sessions, helping donors and providing refreshments. Its youth division, the German Red Cross Youth, welcomes people aged 6 to 27 and offers opportunities including school first aid, campaigns and youth activities.
