Dr. MILK, short for Mothers Interested in Lactation Knowledge, is a community supporting physician mothers in their breastfeeding and expressing journeys. Founded by Phoenix pediatrician Dr. Laurie Jones as a local group in 2009, it expanded online in 2010 and now has more than 56,000 members. Its community is for physicians who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or expressing milk, as well as doctors seeking to learn more about lactation to support their patients. Membership is verified using professional credentials or practice information to help maintain a safe space.

Through its online community and local chapters, Dr. MILK offers peer support, educational resources, and information about practicing breastfeeding medicine. The organization also works to address advice it considers inconsistent with evidence-based breastfeeding care: members can report concerns, and Dr. MILK may send anonymous educational letters and resources to medical professionals. It provides an open letter to pharmacists for members to share. Dr. MILK is operated as an LLC and accepts donations to help cover administrative expenses and continuing medical education for administrators and moderators. It does not accept company gifts in exchange for endorsements.
