Dr. Willoughby & Associates provides psychological independent medical examinations (IMEs) and medical nexus opinions for Veterans pursuing VA disability claims. The practice’s evaluations are conducted by licensed doctoral-level psychologists and are designed to provide clear, clinically supported evidence for VA review. Each assessment is tailored to the Veteran and goes beyond a basic nexus letter by combining a clinical interview, relevant records review, diagnostic assessment, and structured medical reasoning.
The service includes a 50–90 minute interview, review of military and medical records, and a DSM-5-TR diagnosis when clinically indicated. Reports typically run 5–8 pages and may address direct or secondary service connection, aggravation, increased ratings, or appeals. When supported by the evaluation, the report includes an independent medical opinion with a reasoned nexus conclusion, including an “at least as likely as not” opinion where appropriate. Reports are delivered electronically, typically within 7–10 business days.
Veterans can schedule an examination, submit records and forms through a secure platform, and meet with a psychologist by HIPAA-compliant video.
