Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) is an international development organization working to help young people, particularly in East Africa, shape their futures and make informed choices. Its mission is to strengthen youth potential, advance human rights and support sustainable population development. DSW promotes young people’s participation, education and political involvement, alongside age-appropriate sexual education and access to contraception and family-planning services. It also works to advance gender equality, bodily autonomy for women and girls, and an end to gender-based violence, including female genital mutilation and early marriage.
The organization works in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, partnering with local communities to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services and help young people exercise their rights. In Europe, DSW engages decision-makers in Germany and the EU on sexual and reproductive health, global health and rights-based development cooperation. Its resources include publications, infographics, population data and reports. Supporters can donate, become regular donors or members, and follow its projects and policy work through news and newsletters.
