The Denver Timing Association (DTA) is a Colorado motorsports group founded in 1949 by local drag-racing and top-speed enthusiasts who first gathered in a small garage in north Denver. Today, the association is run by a new generation alongside some of its charter members, continuing a legacy rooted in hot-rod racing and automotive history. DTA members Bill Kenz and Roy Leslie made their mark in the 1950s with the 777 Streamliner, powered by two or three Ford flathead engines, setting world records at Bonneville.
The association brings racing history to the public through events and community activities. Its โBurninโ Rubber Through Historyโ event featured nearly 20 historic hot rods, significant early hot-rod pairs, NHRA Drag Safari memorabilia, motor displays, and stories from people who experienced the era. Displays included overhead-valve flatheads, Wayne 12-port engines, and bangers. DTA also shares updates through its blog and welcomes inquiries through its website. Based in Denver, the association connects enthusiasts with the people, vehicles, and artifacts that shaped the cityโs racing scene.
