Dublin Waste to Energy is a pioneering facility that plays a vital role in Dublin's and Ireland's Waste Management Plan. This state-of-the-art facility processes approximately 600,000 tonnes of residual solid waste, ensuring that it does not end up in landfills and reducing the need to export waste. By doing so, Dublin Waste to Energy helps the region become self-sufficient in waste management and align with EU waste recovery and landfill diversion targets.
Not only does the facility focus on waste reduction and recycling, but it also generates clean energy. By safely converting non-recyclable waste, it produces around 60 megawatts of electricity, which powers roughly 100,000 homes. Additionally, it has the capacity to generate 90 megawatts of district heating, enough to warm 50,000 homes, thereby supporting the proposed Dublin District Heating System.
Environmental responsibility is a priority for Dublin Waste to Energy. The facility incorporates cutting-edge technology to minimize emissions, surpassing stringent EU limits. It also employs water conservation measures, capturing and reusing water from various sources.
The facility is also a boon for the community, providing over 100 well-paid jobs and contributing to the local economy through procurement of goods and services. With a strong emphasis on safety and health, Dublin Waste to Energy maintains a comprehensive health and safety program. By continuously monitoring emissions, the facility ensures transparency and accountability.
Dublin Waste to Energy is at the forefront of sustainable waste management and clean energy generation, making a significant positive impact on the environment, the community, and the economy
