Dubois-Crowheart Conservation District (DCCD) is a local conservation organization serving a region of Wyoming that extends from the Wind River and Absaroka mountains to the Wind River Indian Reservation. Formed in 1945, the district works to conserve soil, water, wildlife, and other natural resources while supporting the long-term viability of the area’s land, vegetation, and air quality. Its mission emphasizes education, research, cooperative projects, protection, and practical conservation.
DCCD offers programs and resources for local residents and land users, including K–12 outreach, a rural cost-share program, and conservation tree services. Its work also covers water quality and well sampling, with efforts to maintain or improve groundwater and surface water quality and quantity. The district provides information on land use, rangelands, wildlife and recreation, and NRCS/Farm Bill programs. Through educational articles, announcements, and its long-range plan, DCCD helps the community understand regional conservation needs and participate in efforts to care for natural resources and preserve the Wyoming way of life.
