About Dunakanyar Kittenberger
Dunakanyar Kittenberger Kálmán Hunting Association is based in Nagymaros, Hungary, and manages a hunting area of nearly 6,000 hectares on the southern slopes of the Börzsöny Mountains. Founded in 1947 as the Nagymaros Agricultural Cooperative, the association adopted the name of naturalist and writer Kálmán Kittenberger in 1968. Its territory is bordered by the Danube and Ipoly rivers and several nearby communities, and is approximately 47 percent forested.
The association’s principal game species are red deer, roe deer, mouflon and wild boar. Hunting is carried out mainly by its 47 members, and the organisation also provides information about hunting opportunities and maintains membership documents and a gallery on its website. Its wildlife management work includes cultivating 30 hectares of game fields each year and distributing about 270 tonnes of feed across the area.
In 2010, the National Hungarian Hunting Chamber recognised the association with the Count Ferenc Nádasdy commemorative medal for its contributions to wildlife management, hunting, nature conservation and the reputation of the profession.
