Dunbar Dementia Network

Dunbar Dementia Network SCIO is a local charity supporting people who care for family members or friends living with dementia or related conditions. Its aim is to help carers feel connected and supported, while making the network a welcoming place to seek information and guidance. The organisation works with other local groups and services to help people find practical assistance in the Dunbar area.

Through the Dunbar Dementia Carers Support Group, established in 2015, the charity offers regular opportunities for companionship, conversation and stimulation. Its programme includes social gatherings, outings, creative activities, exercise and relaxation sessions, talks, singalongs and online meetings. A Moving Forward Group also provides opportunities to enjoy shared activities and outings. During periods when in-person meetings were restricted, the network kept in touch through phone calls, newsletters, activity materials and small outdoor gatherings.

The charity also signposts people to local resources and sources of support, including carer organisations and dementia services. Donations help fund its work, and supporters can contribute with or without Gift Aid.
