K.F. and Maria Dunderberg Testamentary Foundation is a Finnish foundation established through the wills of the childless spouses Karl Fredrik and Maria Dunderberg. The couple’s legacy began with K.F. Dunderberg’s engineering workshop, which grew from a metalworking business into a broad industrial operation involved in machinery, shipbuilding, roofing, drainage and water systems. After K.F.’s death in 1928, Maria led the company until her death in 1949. The foundation continued the workshop’s activities until 1978, when its focus shifted to managing its assets and carrying out the couple’s wishes through grants.
Today, the foundation awards annual support to fields and organisations including TAMK’s engineering and transport education, Tampere Women’s Association, Vanhainkoti Tampere, scientists and Häme Museum Association. Its rules direct a significant share of grants to engineering students and researchers, reflecting the Dunderbergs’ interest in developing engineering and foundry industries. Museum activities and care homes also receive support. The foundation honours the couple’s forward-looking modernism, humanism and interest in the arts.
