Dunedin Aurora is a pioneering Citizen Science Magnetic Observatory located in Dunedin, New Zealand, dedicated to providing real-time space weather information for aurora enthusiasts. Established in 2015 as a capstone project by Chris Campbell and Vaughn Malkin, the organization continues to evolve by monitoring the Earth’s magnetic field and tracking satellite data to study the solar wind and near-Earth space environment.

The observatory employs advanced technology, including a variety of magnetometers, a sky camera equipped with a CCD lens, and VLF loop antennas for ionospheric monitoring. Their custom-built website delivers dynamic content, allowing users to access 4-day solar wind forecasts and detailed magnetogram data. Dunedin Aurora is supported by the Otago Museum and has garnered attention from local media and astronomical societies.
