Dunmow Kyokushinkai Karate Club is a friendly, inclusive martial arts club in Great Dunmow, Essex, established in 1985. It welcomes juniors and adults of all ages and abilities, offering training for a wide range of goals, from improving fitness and making friends to competing at national and international levels. Members can also pursue full-contact fighting within Kyokushin, a demanding style of karate.
The club runs beginner courses for juniors and adults several times a year, with a first month free. Regular sessions take place on Tuesdays at Dunmow Leisure Centre and Thursdays at Foakes Hall, with separate training times for junior and senior members. The programme combines karate practice with opportunities for personal development, fitness, and competition in a supportive setting.
Kyokushinkai means “ultimate truth” and is the style taught by the club. Its symbol, the Kanku, comes from the Kanku Kata and represents ideas including power, depth, and continuity.
