Deutscher Verband für Archäologie

The Deutscher Verband für Archäologie (DVA) serves as the central association for archaeological organizations and related scientific fields in Germany. Comprising archaeologists and scholars from various disciplines, the DVA fosters collaboration to enhance archaeology and heritage research. It actively advocates for cultural heritage protection, addressing legislative matters and societal issues that impact the field, such as their recent initiative against the proposed amendments to the WissZeitVG law.

In addition to advocacy, the DVA administers significant funding programs aimed at supporting museums and archaeological projects, having disbursed over 32 million euros since 2020 to facilitate more than 750 projects. Their quarterly publication, "Blickpunkt Archäologie," disseminates crucial updates on the association's activities, along with insights into archaeological developments across various eras, from prehistory to modern times. Through its initiatives and resources, the DVA not only advances archaeological understanding but also promotes educational outreach in schools, ensuring that archaeological themes remain a vital part of academic curricula.
