SHALIMAR Studio and Stables is a rural creative and equestrian enterprise based at a picturesque property in the Capertee Valley, in the Central West region of New South Wales, beyond Lithgow and about two hours from Sydney. Purchased in 2019, the farm operates as a boutique Standardbred horse-breeding business and is also the home and creative hub of its owner, Dyanna Thommeny, an educator, artist, and passionate Standardbred horse lover, owner, trainer, and breeder.

The stables maintain a small, select band of broodmares. Foals are raised with patience and developed into yearlings for sale or racing. The property’s undulating limestone paddocks provide a setting for breeding and raising Standardbred horses.

The studio showcases Dyanna’s visual art, inspired by her connection with country, landscapes, and the natural world. Through photography and painting, her work explores the colours, textures, and patterns found in nature. SHALIMAR also offers access to learning resources: Dyanna coordinates PDA Services, which supports personal organisation and leadership development, and runs Standardbred by Design for people interested in learning about Standardbreds.
