About Dynolyze
Dynolyze is a brand that specializes in dynamometers and uses eddy current brakes in their products. But what exactly is an eddy current brake? Well, an eddy current brake, also known as an electromagnetic brake or electric retarder, is commonly used in various applications, including trains, trucks, roller coasters, and industrial machinery like dynamometers.
In the center of the brake, there is a fixed stator with air-cooled rotors on both sides that rotate when the dyno axle is in motion. The brake is controlled by adjusting the applied current and voltage. The stator consists of coils that generate electromagnetic fields when electricity flows through them. As the rotors pass through the magnetic field, electromagnetic induction occurs.
The resistance generated by the eddy currents acts as a braking force without friction or wear, which is a major advantage for dyno users, as it eliminates the need for regular maintenance. Additionally, the rotors have air ducts that help dissipate the heat generated by the eddy currents. After using the dyno, you may even notice warm air rising from the brake units.
