Dystopia Rising Maryland is a local chapter of Dystopia Rising Live, offering a monthly, weekend-long live-action roleplaying experience set in a zombie-infested post-apocalyptic world. Held outdoors at Indian Lake Christian Camp in Darlington, Maryland, events run from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Participants create original characters and join a settlement, where they eat, sleep, explore, collaborate on stories, and defend themselves with prop weapons against zombies and other monsters.

The experience combines elements of tabletop and video games, improv theater, haunted houses, escape rooms, and survival-themed events. Its focus is on creativity, shared storytelling, and community, with the organizers emphasizing that players come together to enjoy the weekend and welcoming newcomers. The setting centers on Hags Head, a settlement built by people discarded or excluded by the nearby Bailey, where residents face the dangers of the wasteland together. Dystopia Rising Maryland provides event tickets, resources, books and rules, local policies, community information, and a shop.
