About Dzogchen Beara
Dzogchen Beara is a Tibetan Buddhist Retreat centre located on the serene Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland. Known for its breathtaking natural surroundings and atmosphere of profound peace, Dzogchen Beara offers a warm and open-hearted welcome to all visitors. With a variety of accommodation options and a year-round program of retreats, seminars, workshops, and professional training, the community provides a space for personal growth and spiritual development.
In addition to its retreat offerings, Dzogchen Beara is home to the Spiritual Care Centre, which provides support to individuals facing long-term or life-limiting illnesses, living with disabilities, or dealing with grief, stress, or burnout. The centre aims to offer comfort and solace through personal guidance and care. Dzogchen Beara is currently in the process of building Ireland's first Tibetan Buddhist temple, set to be inaugurated in 2023.
Founded in 1973 by Peter and Harriet Cornish, Dzogchen Beara is guided by the spiritual teachings of Sogyal Rinpoche, the author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and the founder of Rigpa, an international network of Buddhist centers. Their vision for Dzogchen Beara was to create a spiritual home for people of all traditions, offering a place of refuge and spiritual exploration. Dzogchen Beara is a registered charity with the Irish Charities Regulator and is committed to upholding the Rigpa Code of Conduct, which reflects contemporary secular and Buddhist ethical standards.
