e-WLD (electronic Limburg Dialect Dictionary) is an innovative digital platform dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich tapestry of Limburg's dialects. Established through a collaborative effort led by Radboud University Nijmegen and supported by CLARIN, e-WLD offers users an extensive and accessible resource for exploring various Limburg dialects. The project has seen the digitalization of initial volumes of the Woordenboek van de Limburgse Dialecten, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing knowledge and appreciation of regional language.
The platform is continuously enriched through meticulous data curation, conversion, and manual correction by a dedicated team of researchers and volunteers. In particular, the technical expertise behind the application was provided by Erwin Komen, with essential contributions from the Humanities Lab's Technical Support Group. As of 2025, e-WLD continues to evolve, incorporating phonetic corrections and expanding its database to serve linguists, researchers, and language enthusiasts alike. This dynamic resource is invaluable for anyone interested in the linguistic heritage of Limburg and its dialects.
