About East African Regulatory Affairs Professionals Association
EARAPA (East African Regulatory Affairs Professionals Association) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to foster regulatory information sharing and mutual understanding among national regulatory authorities in the East African region. With its main office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, EARAPA is working to open branch offices in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and other EAC member countries.
The East African region has a population of 445,851,742 and is a potential and attractive pharmaceutical market for manufacturers worldwide, but it is also plagued by counterfeit drugs due to regulatory loopholes and weak monitoring. EARAPA supports companies that comply with regulatory requirements and fights against cheaters, counterfeiting, and falsifications.
The organization's objectives include collecting like-minded individuals to support and share experiences in the regulatory framework of their respective countries, promoting research in the sector, and supporting policy makers and harmonization efforts for effective regulation of the pharmaceutical market. EARAPA aims to be a central hub for regulatory measures, alerts, news, and updates in the region.
